About Us

Eryri National Park Authority (ENPA) protects the natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage of Eryri National Park. Covering 823 square miles, the Park is home to the highest mountain in Wales, the largest natural lake in Wales, and over 26,000 people.

We are now looking for a Biodiversity Officer to join us on a full-time basis for a 24-month fixed-term contract.

The Role

As a Biodiversity Officer, you will contribute to the conservation and enhancement of the Eryri’s biodiversity by supporting a variety of environmental projects and activities.

Specifically, you will deliver and develop new biodiversity projects, with particular focus on the EnRAW programme, as well as the local biodiversity action plan.

Delivering training, advice and assistance across the Authority, you will seek to improve the understanding of biodiversity, ecosystems services and the sustainable management of natural resources.

Additionally, you will:

- Represent us externally
- Provide advice on invasive species
- Deputise for the Senior Ecologist
- Co-ordinate volunteering for biodiversity projects

About You

To be considered as a Biodiversity Officer, you will need:

- The ability to communicate fluently in Welsh and English
- Knowledge of current and emerging legislation and policy on ecology and biodiversity
- Knowledge of protected species licensing
- An awareness of National Park purposes
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills
- Computer literacy and confidence in Microsoft Office
- A degree in a relevant scientific, biological or land management subject
- A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
